Hardy Brown College Prep’s Parent Newsletter: Weeks 1-2: August 22nd-August 31st, 2018

Welcome to our new families, and welcome back to our returning families. I’m Ms. Allen, Principal of Hardy Brown College Prep. I have been at HBCP for 8 years. I was a teacher at HBCP for two years, and I am currently in my 6th year as Principal. Prior to working at HBCP, I worked at another charter school in Los Angeles. I love working at HBCP because I truly believe in our mission, and I enjoy working with our scholars and families. I look forward to the 2018-2019 school year, as I know we will have another successful year!

Orientation Information: 2018-2019 School Year

Greetings Fortune Family, Fortune School staff has been busy gearing up for the 2018-2019 school year. As we prepare for a great year, we want to share some important information with you. Mandatory Orientation We will be conducting mandatory orientation for all parents and scholars. These school-wide orientations will provide parents and scholars with a clear understanding or our academic program expectations for how we will work together to ensure each scholar receives an excellent education. The goal of orientation is for parents and scholars to learn about goals, grade-level expectations, and procedures.

Join the movement of teacher and school leaders ready to educate every child. To get started, attend an Information Session. Our staff will be on hand at these sessions to answer specific questions about programs, admissions and other aspects of the Fortune School of Education experience. You do not need to bring anything to these sessions. We will provide you with all required materials.

The expectation is that 100% of students in our charter schools will attend and graduate from a four-year university. Students enter each classroom through a door marked with the year they will graduate from a four-year university. Students and parents make annual college and university visits beginning in Kindergarten. Parents sign a contract committing to provide 40 hours of service to the school.

Whether you earn a credential through Fortune School, or teach in one of our charter schools, our leaders go above and beyond in the classroom with their students. Fortune School's leaders make that choice and commitment to do whatever it takes to ensure that all students succeed.
